Overtourism: coastal management key as global traveller numbers return to pre-pandemic levels

This year the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) expects visitor numbers to return to those seen before the pandemic. Tourist arrivals reached 80% of pre-covid levels in the first quarter of 2023, with an estimated 235m tourists travelling internationally during that time. That figure is more than double the same period in 2022.
