INVESTABLE OCEANS

Welcome to our April Newsletter!

While sustainable ocean initiatives have faced a number of headwinds over the past months, there’s still momentum building across the ocean community and this spring and summer are shaping up to be an exciting time of action and collaboration.

Webinar on Scaling Blue Carbon Investments:

We were thrilled to partner with Fair Carbon and Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA) to host a webinar focused on scaling investment in blue carbon markets. The session explored the challenges and opportunities ahead, aiming to deliver actionable insights for project developers, investors, and buyers alike.

The conversation demonstrated the power of bringing together leaders from across disciplines – with two high-quality blue carbon projects ( Vlinder and West Africa Blue) sharing the stage with investors, NGOs, and a leading buyer helping to drive the market forward. We received fantastic feedback and are hopeful that meaningful connections were – and will be – made as a result of the speakers’ and presenters’ efforts. A huge thank you to all who participated and contributed to such an energizing session! You can click here or scroll down to access the full recording.

World Oceans Week to BEFF to UNOC:
The week before the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC) kicks off in Nice, The Explorers Club will host its 9th annual World Oceans Week from June 2nd–5th. While the full schedule hasn’t been published yet, programming highlights include Mission Blue Hope Spots with Dr. Sylvia Earle, deep-sea exploration with Victor Vescovo, and sustainable seafood innovations from leading blue economy startups – with much more to come!

After World Oceans Week, we’re heading to Monaco for the Blue Economy & Finance Forum (BEFF) followed by UNOC in Nice. We'll be participating in a wide range of events hosted by 1000 Ocean Startups, ORRAA, Mission Blue, and others. If you're planning to attend, please let us know – we'd love to connect while there!

Builders Vision and National Geographic Team Up to Inspire Action:

We’re incredibly excited to see two powerful ocean champions join forces! Builders Vision and the National Geographic Society have launched an impactful new initiative to “amplify stories and inspire action toward a sustainable blue economy.” While it’s often said that linking science, exploration, and storytelling is critical, it's not always easy to do – which makes this partnership between two world-class organizations especially meaningful. You can learn more about this important collaboration here.

As always, thank you for being part of this incredible journey towards a sustainable blue economy – and we hope to see many of you in the months ahead!
